FLORAOBSCURA

BLAFFER ART MUSEUM GALA

HOUSTON, TEXAS

Loose, garden style centerpieces were the theme at the Blaffer Museum's Gala in Houston, Texas.  The fragrant centerpieces overflowed with garden roses, tree peonies, ranunculus, bright poppies, Texas mint and herbs that filled in as greenery.  Cotton cloud installations dripping with colorful carnation rain garlands hung above tablescapes.

Flower power ruled Blaffer Art Museum’s “Flora Obscura” gala at the University of Houston.  A stream of fine arts patrons dressed in their efflorescent best entered the recently renovated facility transformed into a blossoming contemporary garden.

Fragrant peonies, carnations, and ranunculus adorned the galleries and courtyards. A vibrant pink glow washed the walls of one dining room while fluffy white clouds raining flowers hung from the ceiling in the other; exotic 19th-century Turkish Oushak carpets spilled into both. During the cocktail reception, a martini bar cranked out Cosmopolitans and other libations.
